I began performing as a young man and played and sang with various bands in France. My passion and love for music continued and developed in Scotland and I began writing my own songs, while continuing to perform. I put my career as a singer/songwriter on hold to develop my teaching/language training career and have had fun recording many online videos and podcasts which are well known worldwide.
But the passion one has for music never dies and continues to bubble inside us, changing as we change and growing as we grow as individuals. My life experiences, key moments (both happy and sad) are all reflected in my music.

It is never easy to try to label music artists and I agree on this one…Just this one: I am not any different!
In my own time I enjoy listening to and singing songs from French artists such as Jacques Brel, Ange, Charles Aznavour, Charlélie Couture, Michel Jonasz, Jacques Higelin as well as international bands like Supertramp, Pink Floyd, U2, Dexy’s Midnight Runners and Queen. Well-known artists such as Billy Joël, Rickie Lee Jones, Murray Head and David Bowie, all played a large part in my musical life.
Above all, I am a "melody-maker". I enjoy creating music and I love working on different genres! This website allows me to capture magic moments I have shared with wonderful people. I hope you enjoy it!

Gary McAlpine (electric & acoustic guitars), Alan McLeod (bass), Thomas Kearns (drums) and myself Pierre-Benoît Hériaud (vocals piano, keyboards & acoustic guitar). Recorded live at Sandy's home studio in Symington, Ayrshire. Remixed with overdubs and mastered at Standing Stone Studio in Barrhead. A big thank you to Sandy Hewitt and Colin Cameron for their invaluable contribution.

I started to play music with David Merrikin (bass) then with Gavin McMulkin (guitars) and Gavin Welsh (drums). We performed a few times in "Flanagans'" in Prestwick during the jam nights and decided to capture this "live" authentic feel and went to Sandy's mobile home-studio in Troon one afternoon and basically recorded the rehearsal as one whole "live" take. I am proud of this recording as we, as a band, managed to capture the "live" performance of the band we were at the time.
I have always wanted to re-record "Love" but I don't think we could ever do it to a "click" in a proper recording studio. Maybe one day…who knows?… my eternal thanks and gratitude to Davy, Big Gav & Wee Gav for making my songs come true.

"Some things begin at home", with me it's creativity. I could be sitting at the piano or picking up the guitar or even simply walking about and a melody would then pop into my head. I would probably use my phone and record the tune just to make sure I don't forget. The next step would be to record it properly. Here is a selection of solo projects I have recorded over the years on a 4 track device back in the analogue days at Ross Elliot's in Prestwick and more recently on GarageBand in my spare bedroom.
A big thank you to Colin Cameron at Standing Stone studio for his patience but above all his remixing and mastering skills.
* A bonus track is added to this playlist as my first ever computer project before my GarageBand experiments. I went to Stuart Brown's home studio in Johnstone one evening. Stuart worked with Simple Minds during his younger days and helped me put the track together. I was back home at midnight with this finished product.

With Gary McAlpine:
I met Gary through my table-tennis commitments and we became close friends very quickly. Our musical collaboration developed over the years and I have fond vivid memories of so called "open mic jam nights" at my house. I really wish Gary and I had the time to do music on a more regular basis.

With Gordon Campbell (1994)
I miss Gordon. We refer to each other as "P'tit Frère" & "Grand Frère". Our friendship goes back to 1988. I was a French assistant in Prestwick Academy and a talented pianist in my 3rd year class started to play Billy Joël's songs on the piano at lunch times and …the rest is history! We recorded in Elliot Davies' Brillbuilding Studio in Glasgow - the manager of "Wet Wet Wet" at the time - and also at Iain MacDonald's home studio - former member of "Johnny Hates Jazz". We even went down to Ross Elliot's in Prestwick to make good use of my 4 track device and put down some more further songs I had just written.
Gordon and I have always been close friends and played a lot of music together until Gordon moved down to Oxfordshire due to teaching commitments. The truth is that we would still be playing together if Gordon were living in Scotland and I can only hope we will play together again in some not too distant future.

With Colin Giles & Laurent Grenier-Rivet (1992)
Laurent and I studied together in the University of Nantes and on my return from my year abroad in Scotland, we started to work on my very first compositions - I had just started to learn how to play the piano and the guitar - and Laurent played the bass. I decided to go back to Scotland and met Colin through work contacts.
An accomplished guitarist and producer, Colin devoted and invested his time and talent and produced my first five ever written songs. I managed to get Laurent to come up to Scotland for a wee holiday and record the bass on a couple of tracks.
I will always be grateful to Colin for believing in me at the time. I hope you enjoy this playlist.
* I decided to add to this playlist a bonus song which is a remix of "Hands Of Love" produced by Iain MacDonald - former member of "Johnny Hates Jazz"

As well as writing my own material, as a Modern Languages teacher I also create songs as educational aids for pupils in the classroom. I will be adding some videos soon.
